History: St. Michael's is a non-Indian parish. However, until ca. 1940, the parish included a significant number of Ojibwa Indians.

1891-1895 Wild Rice River Station attended by Benedictines residing at St. Benedict's Church, White Earth
1895 St. Michael's Mission built at Pembina Settlement
1895-1900 St. Michael's Mission attended by Benedictines residing at St. Benedict's Church, White Earth
1900-1908 St. Michael's Mission attended by Benedictines residing at St. Joseph's Church, Beaulieu 1906 St. Michael's Mission moved to Mahnomen
1908-present St. Michael's is a parish administered by Benedictines (St. John's Abbey, Collegeville, Minnesota) until 1971 and by diocesan priests from 1971-present
